Stabling information

Charges are $10 (incl gst) per horse per night.

Aside from race meetings, there would normally be 50 plus boxes available. Race meeting booking please use the NZTR service prior to contact.

Access. The automatic gate to the Trentham Stables is located at the South end of Granville Street. (Turn right at the end of Seddul Bahr Road when you reach HIBS school)

Access is available 24 hours although restricted over race meetings. (Restrictions may also apply in the two days leading up to any race day. See here for racedays at Trentham)

Toilets. There are toilets available 24 hours.

Facilities are basic covered boxes and open yards. Taps are located adjacent to all boxes. Hosing bays are available. All users are expected to leave the facilities in the same condition as when they arrived. All boxes are expected to be mucked out and tidy.

Overnight short-term stay-overs are permitted for those accompanying horses for those with self-contained accommodation ie camper vans, fitted out horse floats etc. Tents are not allowed.

For out of hours payments, please post through the slot in the black door of the shed straight ahead when you enter via the automatic gate.  Payments cleared daily. To ensure payments are processed correctly, please use only the deposit slot provided. GST invoice/receipts provided on request. 

Stays that do no not include the use of yards or boxes will be free of charge. (ie stopovers during the day prior to a ferry crossing.)

Please respect all other users such as local trainers by giving adequate space around horses already stabled and limit noise and activity.

Changes to Cup Carnival 2016 02 Jul 2015

The Wellington Racing Club is invested in making Wellington the coolest little capital and ensuring Wellington is the place to be in January.  2016 sees the Wellington Racing Club and Sevens Wellington team-up to bring the Capitals biggest and best sporting events together over three action packed weekends.

The Wellington Cup is an iconic part of Greater Wellington’s history and culture. To be able to combine with the NZ Rugby Union to help create a world class sporting event over two weeks and three weekends is a great achievement for both sports and for Wellington.

For some time the Club has been looking at how the Wellington Cup could contribute even more to culture and tourism within Greater Wellington and the opportunity to work together with the Wellington Sevens.

Wellington will now have World Class Thoroughbred racing starting with Tui Super Saturday (16th January) featuring the Group 1 J R & N Berkett Telegraph over 1200m.

We then go to the Wellington Cup on Saturday 23 January followed by Family Day, as part of the Interislander Summer Festival and supported locally by New World, on Saturday 30 January which will feature the Wellfield Desert Gold Stakes and bringing premier racing to a day that has traditionally been known as an industry day of racing.

Saturday 30th January also kicks off the first day of the Wellington Sevens with the final on Sunday 31st.

These new dates will give you as a Member more to look forward to in January and to be proud to be a Member of a club that is truly invested in Wellington.

To help accommodate the Wellington Cup Carnival movement and keep the traditional lead ups to Cup Day, the Premier raceday for the Marton Jockey Club has also moved. Gallagher Marton Cup Day will now be held on January 9th moving back one week from its original January 16th date and still two weeks before the Wellington Cup.
