A race where the best of the best horses in New Zealand compete for Wellington’s most prestigious horse racing trophy, the Wellington Cup. Such thrilling racing action amongst the glitter and glamour of high fashion and finery makes Wellington Cup the biggest day in Wellingtons racing calendar.

All you have to do is scan your Membership card to tell us that you are on course then you could win $50,000!

On Cup Day members simply scan in on arrival before Race 2 using your Members card (not guest card) either at the office prior to Race 1 or there will be a roving scanner through the Members stand between Race 1 and 2.
The draw with those scanned & registered will take place after Race 2 and the winner - notified via the loudspeaker system - must then present themselves prior to Race 3 to the race day office.
The Member must then correctly choose the winners in 4 selected races at Trentham (determined by the WRC) at least 15 minutes before the first chosen race.
If all four selections are winners, the member will take home $50 000 !

Trackside between the birdcage and stables, named in honour of three time winner of the Wellington Cup - Great Sensation 

Cup Day is best spent trackside and this marquee offers it all - great views of the racing action from within a glamourous silk lined marquee.

You will be treated to a buffet style lunch with dessert and afternoon tea plus a premium beverage package is also included the ticket price. 

If you are hosting clients or attending with friends, this Trackside location is a great Cup Day experience.

ASCOT PRECINCT

Located on the Ascot Lawn close to the Parade Ring 

The Ascot Precinct gives you the chance to have the first glimpse of the horses before they head out to the track, perfect for picking your winning selections. 

You will have your own reserved mini marquee set with tables & chairs for 10 guests along plus an al fresco area at the front of your marquee with additional seating and umbrella. Lunch will be served to your marquee after you enjoy a glass of bubbles to toast the start of a great Wellington Cup Day. A premium beverage package is included throughout the day!

Located trackside at the northern end of the public lawn  

This excellent hospitality option makes sure you are still part of the action, giving you the much loved atmosphere of the public lawn but with the space to get yourself a drink and a seat for the day.  

You have access to non-reserved tables & chairs within The Lawn at Trentham and can avoid the queues with access to your own private bar and TAB facilities, this is the way to guarantee your place this Cup Day!

Located on the Champagne lawn next to the birdcage between the Members & Public stands

NO BYO

NOTE:There is no BYO allowed in public areas, Centre of Course parking, the Members Carpark or Members Reserve Carpark for Wellington Cup Day.
Centre of course parking area is parking only with no gatherings or picnics. Guest parking will in most cases be unable to return to their vehicles during the day.
While bar facilities will be provided by the Club for guests in most areas, Carpark areas will be patrolled by Security and the NZ Police to enforce the no BYO policy. As a condition of entry to the course, The Club reserves the right to search any bag or vehicle for alcohol. Any person who fails to abide by these rules will be liable for removal from the course or action by the NZ Police.  There will be low or no-alcohol drinks available and plenty of food vendors located throughout the course. We ask all our guests to respect these conditions and to consume alcohol responsibly.

BRINGING YOUR OWN PICNIC OR SHELTER

Non-alcoholic drinks may be bought in to the course, however with the following restrictions:

-No glass bottles
-Only sealed and unopened plastic containers, or empty containers of less than 2 litres capacity that may be used as refillable water bottles are permitted.
-Empty thermos' are permitted with boiling water available in both "the Vines" and "Winning Post"cafes
-Guests bringing any opened or glass containers will be asked to return them to their vehicles if possible or confiscated and destroyed. 

Food may be brought in to the course for consumption at any public location (Public lawn, open bleachers in the Public Stand, public seating in forecourt etc) however is not permitted in the Public stand, Members Stand, Annex or any other hospitality area unless specifically stated.(Note BYO Food is permitted in the "Trentham Lawn" hospitality area)
-Chilly bins are permitted but must be opened for inspection on entry
-BBQ's are not permitted to be brought on to the course.
-Glass /china/ ceramic plates are not permitted

Shelter items such as cabanas may be erected on the lawn in front of the public stand (no further than 10m from the concrete walkway) with a maximum size of 3m x 3m and no walls. Please note that due to safety or consideration for others, any structure may be asked to be removed by course security. We do ask for consideration for others if erecting a shelter.

GETTING TO TRENTHAM

By Train

Leaving central Wellington every 30 minutes (5 minutes past and 35 minutes past the hour), approx time from City to Trentham is 40 mins. Return trains to Wellington from Trentham also leave at 5 minutes past and 35 minutes past the hour. Click here for Metlink timetables.

By Car

Trentham Racecourse is located on Racecourse Road. Traffic Management is in place on Wellington Cup Day with vehicle access to the Racecourse Road entrances (Main gate and Members Carparks) restricted to vehicles with members ticketing or suitable hospitality options. Access is permitted for valid disabled parking cards. 

Members, Owners, Jockeys & Trainers are invited to park in the Leger Car Park at the Northern end of the course. Limited parking (including disabled) is available on Racecourse Road.

PUBLIC PARKING

 
Free Centre of Course Public Parking is available in the Centre of Course and accessible from Alexander Road (the continuation of Messines Avenue) on the eastern side of the course. 
Available in surrounding streets and around the "CIT" area.
